What is NRTL? 
The United States has a federally mandated program for the safety of electrical products used in the workplace. This program is governed by OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and is called the NRTL (Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory) program.

The NRTL program is defined in the United States Federal Regulations, specifically Title 29 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 1910.

NRTL Listing​
The ETL Listed Mark ensures compliance of products with North American safety standards, such as electrical, gas and other safety standards. It also assures that the manufacturer’s facilities comply with certain standards and are subject to periodical inspections.

This is being handled by the ITL Safety Team.

What is FCC?
FCC requires that all electronic devices with unintentional radio-frequency radiators that are entering the commercial market in the United States are regulated if they employ clocks or oscillators, operate at a frequency of greater than 9 kHz and use digital techniques, which includes almost every product that contains digital CIRCUIT.

ITL facilities are registered by the American Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for measurements used by applications for certifications. This is being handled by the ITL EMC/Radio Team.

What is FCC Verification?

Authorization process for unintentional radiating Devices. Required for most Information Technology equipment. FCC Declaration of Conformity (DOC) is needed for unintentional radiated devices which are PC preferal. This is being handled by the ITL EMC/Radio Team.

What is ACTA?

The Administrative Council for Terminal Attachment (“ACTA”) is an open organization with a mission to adopt technical criteria for terminal equipment to prevent network harm through the act of publishing such criteria developed by the American National Standards Institute (“ANSI”) – an accredited standards development organizations, and establish and maintain database(s) of equipment approved as compliant with the technical criteria.

What is Industry Canada?

The Certification and Engineering Bureau of Industry Canada provides a certification service for both radio and terminal equipment in Canada.

Testing of either radio or terminal equipment, to establish compliance with Industry Canada standards, is performed in private sector laboratories. In the case of terminal equipment these laboratories are required to be approved in accordance with the provisions of a departmental procedure.

ITL facilities are registered by Industry Canada for measurements used by applications for certifications.
